Let's Pack the HOUSE at Open Throw This Week!

Posted by Monarch Lacrosse at Aug 29, 2016 12:46PM PDT

Coyotes,

It was a good first week but we can do even better. This Wednesday and Thursday we need to pack the HOUSE. In case some of your friends have not signed up for the website please spread the word.

Open throw will be every Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00-6:45. The fall season is CRITICAL to our success. If you are not out for a sport open throw is a wonderful opportunity for you and this team to get better. The weather is generally great and getting a jump start on the season is a must. We will continue to work towards 2-3 teams in the DLC Elite League. I know pretty sure we will have two the third is still up in the air based on preliminary numbers.

Opening games are September 10th playing regulation games one per team every Saturday. Remember, even if you are not on a team open throw is critical to your growth as a player. My best on the start to your school year.

Open Throw Begins Next Week

Posted by Monarch Lacrosse at Aug 16, 2016 7:11PM PDT

Yote Nation,

As the school year begins I want to make sure you have your priorities straight. School, parents, and family always comes first. Translation, treat your parents and family with the utmost respect and do your best in school. The all league academic and all state academic awards are the most important in our program. Get off to a great start and set both academic and lacrosse goals for the year! A few of you kept me abreast of your goals this summer and this really was impressive.

We get rolling next week! We will have open throw Wednesday and Thursday the 24th and 25th and every week on Wednesdays and Thursdays for the extended future at 5:00 pm. We meet by the back wall of the gym outside of the locker room.

In addition, Friday the 26th we will have our second annual night time full field scrimmage under the lights. Last year it was at the Superior Turf, this year it will be at Monarch next Friday the 26th starting at 7:30 pm. DON’T MISS this one, a great time for families to meet each other and watch their sons under the lights!

Open throw is open to all players. However, if you are out for football or other fall sports we want you to focus on THEM. Many of you have already let me know you are out for other sports and I wish you my best. We will be selecting at least two teams to play in the Denver Lacrosse Club Elite League. I am hoping we add a third team this year. Last year we did a varsity and a varsity b team composed of underclassmen and a ton of freshman. Evaluations will be made during our open throws and full field scrimmage. We want to have teams chosen after the first two weeks of open throws.

Games will be on Saturdays and begin on September 10.

Feel free to contact me for any concerns.

A Message From Coach Auday

Posted by Coyote Lacrosse at Jul 21, 2016 5:26PM PDT

Coyotes,

As club and showcase season is winding down I wanted to wish all of you my best. We can’t wait to get the ball rolling for a great off season. Here are some big things on the horizon:

-First of all I would like to welcome Ethan LaHoda on to the coaching staff. Many of you know Coach E from his work running the Rocky Mountain Rattlers. This former Coyote Captain and all state player, CSU two time National Champ, and outstanding young man will be taking on the JV program and will be our midfield coach for all levels. His expertise will be an incredible addition to the Yotes! E will be right with us from the start this fall and I can’t tell you how elated we are to have him on the staff!

-Around the corner is our fall program consisting of Wednesday and Thursday practices(TBD most likely 5:15 ish) with play in the DLC Elite Fall League on Saturdays. We will try and enter a third team. Tryouts will be during open throw and our camp. This will all be announced the week of August 1 when school personnel are back at school to get fields. My estimate is we will be rolling around August 17th. Open throw is for ALL players whether on the fall teams or not and is FREE.

-We will be doing one or two tournaments in addition such as the Farmer Feast.

-Keep up on the lifting, running, agilities, and stick work. This is crucial to yours and our success.

BVL Establishes Scholarship Program

Posted by Coyote Lacrosse at May 5, 2016 1:43PM PDT

Boulder Valley Lacrosse establishes scholarship program for high school seniors in memory of Stephen C. Muir
BOULDER, Colo., May 3, 2016— The Boulder Valley Lacrosse Association (BVL), one of the largest youth lacrosse programs in Colorado, has announced the formation of The Boulder Valley Lacrosse Scholarship in memory of former Boulder resident and lifelong lacrosse player and ambassador, Stephen C. Muir.
The BVL Scholarship was established to honor the service, commitment and value that young adults have given to the local lacrosse community. BVL will award $2,000 in scholarships that may be used at any accredited institution of learning, including schools with 4-year, 2-year, trade or vocational degree programs.
The scholarships are available to all currently enrolled high school seniors, male or female, who have “given back” to the game of lacrosse in ways that have helped grow the sport or that have enhanced the playing experience for others. Applicants’ contributions to the lacrosse community could be as players, coaches, referees, or through a demonstrated ability to simply bring people together for the love of the sport.
“A primary goal of the BVL Scholarship is to celebrate and honor the character, integrity, and love for the sport of lacrosse that Steve Muir exhibited throughout his life,” said BVL President JP O’Brien. “In addition to his exceptional skill and dominance as a high school All-American and NCAA Division I national champion, Steve embodied all that is good about competitive sports. He made all of his teammates better by infusing an entire team with a joy of playing the game. Steve was known for laughing, dancing, and bouncing around on the sidelines, helping remind his teammates of how much fun it is to play lacrosse. We are thrilled to announce these scholarships in his honor.”
The selection committee will review each application with a combination of factors in mind, including merit, leadership and overall impact on the lacrosse community. All applications must be submitted no later than May 18, 2016. Scholarship winners will be notified no later than May 30, 2016.
Eligible candidates must complete the online application form attached to this announcement (see below).
A letter of recommendation from a coach, a player, or other lacrosse community member is also required. Letters should be emailed to BVL Executive Director Andrew Davies, at andrew@boulderlacrosse.org.
Boulder Valley Lacrosse is a community based, nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to spreading the great sport of lacrosse throughout Northern Colorado. BVL organizes boys competitive travel teams for the primary lacrosse season in spring, as well as travel teams, camps and clinics in the fall, winter, and summer. www.boulderlacrosse.org
